I am going independent soon and am looking for an Auto Insurance Company that deals with both Standard and Non Standard risks. I live in Missouri. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to find several. No carrier is good for all risks. You'll need to have a range of options.

I don't know the MO market, can't help with specifics, but limiting to looking for 1 carrier will make you struggle to be successful.

To be honest, take whatever ones will appoint you right now. If you have no book or anything to offer, many companies will not directly appoint you unless you are a part of a cluster.

Progressive comes to mind as a direct appointment but they are mainly non-standard in my area.

Call up the companies like mentioned and see who will help you out. You might find that the decision is made for you quite easily...

Be prepared to answer things like your office set up, your production goals, business plans, what your markets are right now and how you plan to reach them, and things like that.

Also, if you only used one company then what is the point of going independent? Get several to fit what you need!

From my own experience I agree. My agency has 7 auto carriers and a few more would be welcome.
