Independent Insurance Agency Advise

I would like to start a Independent. How do I get appointed with the major carriers? Since I am new, would they give me the appointment.

if they dont, are there other options where I can broker the business for a while until the carriers give me the appointment? also, who owns the brokered business?

need recomendations on a management system for a startup. I have over 10 years expience in personal lines with the both Allstate and Statefarm, so I know how to run a successfull business. I want to make sure the same model can translate on the Independent side.
