Insurance Agent in Iowa

I have not posted on this forum in years, but I am starting to broaden my scope of business. I do believe the very best source of information is fellow Agents/Brokers. My company name is the "Insurance Guy" and I travel the entire state of Iowa, primarily working in the Medicare and Health insurance sector. I have been an agent/broker for over 12 years which 10 plus years, I have run solo without being part of a brokerage (best decision ever). Now my business has grown to a point where I would like to expand. Which also means reaching out to the best source, YOU. Just a few questions:
Does anyone see a benefit of having a "national" license, basically do you feel it's worth it, compared to an individual state?
Best source of generating leads will always be referrals or generating them through other organic methods. But does any fellow Agents use a lead company that you believe is worth the cost, basically getting at least a 2-10% return?
