Just a little intro today. I've been lurking around for a month or so.

I have no experience with insurance or any cold sales. The only thing I've ever sold was power equipment as a part time job a few years back. I've been a blue collar guy for the past 25 years and I'm getting tired of living paycheck to paycheck.
I have a friend at work that sells FE part time and does pretty well at it, I picked his brain on insurance and he suggested going for the license and he would "show me the ropes". I spent a week or so watching him call his leads and went on a few sales with him. Turns out the guy is about half a step above a snake, and his methods are probably not legal, and he blows his money on partying as soon as he gets paid. Not my ideal teacher.
I found another agent to work with thru my wifes friends and he seems like a real upstanding guy, I've meet him and he expressed interest working with me (he is mainly P&C) and giving me access to his book to work Life and Health. However, he is kinda slow getting the ball rolling and after a few weeks I'm still nowhere nearer to selling than when I started. I like the guy so I will give him a little time to set things up.
Im sure I'll have plenty of questions as I learn and this seems like a good place to pick up a lot of info, along with more than a few opinions :D

See you on the Forums!

Sounds like the average agent.

Good news: this is potentially an excellent, lucrative opportunity.
Bad news: sounds like to get it done, you're going to have to take the bull by the balls and squeeze. Inexperience hampers, but doesn't mean you can't do it. Good luck with it.
