Leaving Messages

I've been in this business for awhile....since 1984. One thing that's always struck me with folks is the number of return calls I get when I leave messages. Whether it's on existing clients, leads, check-back to see if they might finally want what they told me they wanted, the percent of folks who actually do call back is somewhere between 5-10% and the 10% might be generous. At times I've threatened to quit EVER leaving messages anymore, but still do. People treat insurance agents like preachers knocking on your door trying to get you saved....oh no, here comes that preacher again.

I guess I should take the approach of...don't call us, we'll call you......

...see if you get a call back then

Don't just leave one message. The more you leave the more of a chance they will call you back.

For a true professional, it's not about quantity, it's about quality.

It has more to do with the message you leave, than how many times you call.

Crafting a message that gets a return call is more effective than hounding them relentlessly, which is the kind of stuff that gives insurance agents the kind of bad reputation that they suffer with!

Amen, Paul!

Wasting time and leads by leaving messages IMO... Never do it. Why not just keep calling until you actually talk to them.

Some, maybe most, have caller ID and will never answer the phone....leads I'm speaking of. Maybe I should go knock on their door with a subpoena in hand.

If you treat a lead like a subpoena, then you will be very successful. But more often than not, agents take the path of least resistance. At the first of sign of a setback they retreat to leaving messaging on machines after one attempt.
Just thins the herd so to speak for agents that don't shy away from failure.
