Looking for advice...

Hi all... When I was recently out of the office, my co-worker in the commercial lines at this small agency went onto my computer and synced all of my files to her cloud. Then she later accessed them and downloaded them to her home computer... including my leads. She's obviously not so tech savvy because she left a clear trail of it all on my computer. I've informed the boss who confirmed with an IT company. However, the boss is trying to sweep this under the rug. I feel what the coworker did was very bad to put it lightly and am shocked at the owners response. Are there any agency owners or anyone else out there that can weigh in? Have you seen anything like this before and if so, how was it handled? Thank you!

That's a common issue in sales, and is very common in environments with weak leadership/structure.

As an agency owner, I would ridicule any fellow owner who allows this kind of thing to go on. It's poison to a sales team, disrespectful to employees and an absolute sign of weakness. I make it clear up front that any funny business is not tolerated and have followed through with immediate termination the couple times I wasn't listened to.

This depends a bit depending on your financial situation, but if I were you (and I was 100% sure all my information is correct), I would start looking for another job immediately. Life is too short for that crap. In the meantime, or if my financial situation didn't allow for this, I would do some (non incriminating) version of what a lion does when another animal tries to take food from it.

However, the boss is trying to sweep this under the rug.

I feel like I need more information on exactly what this means. Did she get permissions from him to go after your commercial leads?

What has he done, and what will he do?

I have a suspicion that he will act, but is trying to downplay if for the moment to keep peace while he figures out exactly what to do, and how to do it.
