Maine Requesting to Be Excluded from MLR

I'm not gonna bash Canada too much. In 2014 when the procedure I need has a 10 month waiting list here I plan on going to Canada where the wait will only be 8 months.

Yep. I posted a blurb on this a while back with a passing comment about how even the commie states are being out-commied by the feds.

The state has already driven out everyone except anthem and some crumbs from some other carriers. Yet they are in a pickle because they want more competition. Now comes the feds with their tangled up program to superimpose over the states tangle up program. Ironically, in what I posted last time on this, as I recall, the Insurance Commissioner was arguing to the feds that insurance regulation has traditionally been left to the states.

In essence both the states and the feds are running into a collision course where mlr requirements and year after year of denial of premium increases is putting the carriers in a position where they cant meet the reserve requirements and other financials that the DOI demands of carriers in Maine. So on one hand the DOI thinks it is protecting the public by killing premium increases, but on the other hand the financials of the carriers are becoming weaker and weaker as the state dictates their margins or lack thereof.

What can I say. The nature of a mess is that it is a mess. There is nothing but higher rates, hand to hand combat with carriers, and total confusion ahead. Of course, that is the perfect groundwork for Obama's long term plans.

Agents are going to flock to ME to sell! LOL..

Hey, it's guaranteed issue. As the agents all say here, "I will take 5% all day and just ride around signing people up." Here is your chance.
