Does anyone know if you can sign someone up for a MEdicare Advantage plan over the phone? I have a couple client leads from hours away and am wondering if they agree over the phone that they want the MA, Can I enroll them online (our MA carrier allows us to input information through the internet to enroll).

Thanks

I can enroll over the internet via electronic signature but I cannot take them over the phone, you might be able to do a three way and have your producer help desk enroll them on your behalf.

AARP/Secure Horizons has a phone enrollment. You have to prep the client for the call and there is a special number. You also have to ensure the client has the "enrollment kit" which includes a copy of the app brochure and "statements of understanding" ( I have emailed, mailed or faxed this to them in prepreration for the call ). I can email you the instructions if you'd like.

In addition, you don't want to "lead" the prospect on the phone by going over several different plans, and you want to have a CMS approved script that you read verbatim to the prospect.

The ideal way, if you're going to do this, would be to talk to the client on the phone and learn more about what they're doing now and which plan works best for them.

Then, get them to call you back, and start recording the conversation from the minute the phone rings so that it's clear the call is an inbound, not outbound call. Make sure the person knows to specifically tell you what they want (like "I want to enroll in AARP Medicare Complete Plan 2"). You'll need to read the CMS approved script verbatim and don't ad lib.

I don't do phone enrollments because I don't want somebody to come back and file a CMS complaint on me without me being able to look them in the eye when they enroll.

You can enroll many plans online. In CA, the best PFFS for me has been Aetna. They do an online enrollment as does Today's Options (I think).

For Secure Horizons I see the client and do it via my laptop with a signature pad.

If all else fails, get a lead list for that area, set some appointments for Med Supp sales and book more appointments and make the trip. It might be a better use of your time, energy and money to drive out there with more appointments in addition to your MA appointment instead of risking the other person being a secret shopper from CMS and you making a mistake or their children not taking well to you selling their parent over the phone and calling CMS. Too much risk for my blood. I would try to have two or three other appointments that day in the same area. Heck, take full advantage and book a couple of day's worth of Med Supp appointments and really make the trip worthwhile.

I am with Timsip. These products are so customer service intensive that I would not enroll anyone over the phone without meeting them first. That way if there is a problem down the road the client will be more willing to work with you on it and less likely to file a grievance because there is more of a bond. Who knows maybe you will get referrals or a life sale out of it.

After reading all of the above............PM me and I'll show you how to sell Final Expense. Unless you enjoy having "the Man's" boot on your neck.:goofy:
