Guys I need to get one question answered for my father in-law. I only sell health & life no med sups. WHo is the best company to buy a part D & F from? I looked at Mutual of Omaha they seem to pretty decent with good ratings, but I figured I would pose the question here to get some feedback, He is located in Northern part of Indiana if that makes a difference. Any truthful input would be appreciated.

The best company for Part D is the one that covers all or most of his drugs. Go to medicare.gov and look them up. The plans may be different in ID than in other states. You can help him by doing a little research.

Why do you want to sell him a Plan F? Almost all doctors today Accept Assignment. Check and if they do do not sell him a Plan F. Sell him a Plan D instead. Usually a lot cheaper and typically Plan D get lower increases than Plan F.

If you want more information please call me. I can tell you why I only sell Plan D.

Depending which county he's in a Plan F is $113.58 Plan G= $108.12 and a Plan D = $87.39 if he is a turning 65 male.

As Frank said he is paying over $300 extra for the Plan F to basically cover his $135 deductible. The coverage for excess charges really do little if anything at all for anyone.

BUT, many people STILL want Plan F.

Type in his Meds on Medicare dot gov and you can make your best educated guess from there as to the best Part D plan. If he doesn't take many meds and they are all generic, the coventry plan sold through Mutual of Omaha is usually OK and about the lowest premium of any.

A client of mine who is T65 soon told me that Coucil On Aging offices are helping seniors pick the appropriate drug plan.

I guess they are saying that m.gov is not really helpful so they sit down with seniors and work up the best choices for them.

I guess it's a free service.

I no longer write Part D plans. Way too much crap to put up with from CMS. However, that is not the main reason.

There is no way that I can be certified with all Part D companies. I don't even want to be. I recommend that the prospect take a list of their meds to their pharmacy and give them to the druggist.

They will look them up and suggest a plan. Each company has a formulary. The formulary can change literally from day to day, however, not likely that often.

If I recommend a plan that covers all or most of their meds to a prospect or a client and a few months later the most expensive meds are dropped from the formulary who do you think they are going to be pissed at? Yep, me. Now all of a sudden my credibility is on the line.

It has not happened to me but I know agents who have lost Med Supp policies they sold because of it. Why does everyone want to kill the messenger?

For the couple of bucks we are talking about plus the potential of CMS deciding all of a sudden that there are special rules that apply only to agents named Frank, I don't need the money that bad or hassle.

Let the pharmast handle it. If they get upset with him he can just give them a pill. He's got a lot, I only have a few.

Not only do I not play well with others, I don't share.
