Medicare Supplements

When contracting to sell Medicare sups, can you godirect with a company or do you have to go through an IMO?

Someone might as well break the ugly news to you right now. Being in this business is just like being in the mafia. You always have to kick money up to someone. Why do you have to kick up money to someone that does nothing for you but lip flap? Because thats just the way it is! Now prepare yourself to be bombarded by the swarm of flesh eating IMOs and FMOs that inhabit this forum. take it away frankie! :1arghh:

Thank you for the introduction. You couldn't have done a better job if I had written it for you.

Let me be the first of the "swarm of flesh eating IMOs and FMOs"
to welcome you. What Yoda forgot to mention is that we also "suck the blood" out of newbies. Yum, Yum.

Now that the Yoda's play time is over, back in your cage little feller, there are still a very few companies that will let an agent go direct. Most of the "big guys" are going to require you to use one of the "flesh eaters".

There are some who actually have set it up so it works to the agents advantage by offering excellent contracts, help and support. However, there are others who take advantage of agents, especially those new to the business.

They do that by paying substandard commission by offering "training" and "leads". Training and leads are in quotation marks because the training is more often than not, non existent or pretty worthless. The leads may be nothing more than old direct mail leads.

The biggest scam are those who require an agent to assign their commissions. Do not ever sign a contract that requires you to do that, not ever.

If you are not afraid of evil monsters feel free to give me a call. I will be happy to let you in on the secret ways of those who reside in the dungeon of doom and enlighten you further.

Don't forget to bring your cross, wooden stake and garlic.

You know, I always get a kick out of Yoda's responses, but you really got me good on that one Frank. My side literally hurts from laughing so hard. It has been a long day - I needed that - Thanks guys.

In Massachusetts there are only four (yes, that's right, 4) carriers that offer Medicare supplements. My FMO only offered United Healthcare (AARP) in Mass. Being independent though, I wanted to contract with all I could, so I went direct with the others. You can contact them through their websites.

Mr_jpt who are you contracted with for an FMO for this? I would be interested in talking with them?

I am looking into breaking into this market. I am in Mass. also.

Thanks!
