Meeting with Mercury this week for possible contracting here in Pa. Any current Mercury agents have any feedback on the company ? claims service ?

Looks like they might be going the "Farmers" route with entry level rates to grab some market share. Everything we've rated with them has been scary low pricing. I'd love to get feedback from some of you who are writing with them currently...expecially on their competitive position and if they are market driven in other areas as well.

They are really competitive on auto here in CA. In CA they have strict underwriting, but it keeps their rates low.

Met w/the rep this morning.... rates are pretty decent based on the comparisons they did for us. The commission and loyalty factor seem pretty big. 15/15 auto ? we get 10/10 and 14/12 with our two largest carriers now !!! Guess who's getting the business shortly ? They also committed to appoint no other agents in my town for 12 months(town pop. is only 10K)if we do the numbers we committed to. That's a heck of a committment to make in these days of the pimping philosophy that most companies subscribe to. She says the Co. is founded by a former IA !

You actually put a lot business with that outfit that pays 10/10 plus goes around you and tries to write business direct?

10/10 doesn't ...that's erie insurance...great company, great service, support, just $hitty commish.

15/15 blows my mind.... potential 150K in addl income if I ever moved that auto book

I thought 10/10 was the company with that chick named Flo as the spokesperson... I had no idea another company paid that low.

Come on, you want a 50% raise for doing no additional work? Why would you want that? Just write 50% more policies, it'll all work out in the end!

We must live in different worlds. Many of our comapnies are 15/15 plus the chance to earn more.

Yeah the big increase $$ will be tough to take ! We'll just have to bear down and suck it up. In defense of Erie's 10% they give better support than any IA company on the planet, is it worth 33% less pay ??? probably not, but I'm not complaining

Flo......who the hell names their spokesWOMAN Flo ?? I thought Flo was a female's monthly visitor ?? Yuck that thought will be hard to get out:1frown:
