I am 45 y/o male with clean medical hx and exam, recently put on trial of oral methotrexate for psoriasis of the hand. I applied for a 1 million $ term life policy and came back with Class B rating and premium nearly triple of what was originally quoted. An inquiry to underwriting turned up that use of methotrexate was the cause for the sub-optimal rating an d premium. Is this common? And if I quite methotrexate, can I get a better rate? My dermatologist foresees I will come of the drug this summer.
