Need Help Finding People to Call On/visit.

I've been in the business a little over a year, and the well of family and friends is drying up. I know this is a referral business. Outside of that, what are some ways to generate leads or people to talk to?

Is cold calling or walking into businesses where I don't know anyone an effective way to go about this? I would prefer not to hear about how I need to get more referrals, I already know this. Any other ideas on becoming production would be much appreciated.

Not to be mean, but this post and the mentality behind it is why I left management.

Yes cold walking into businesses will result in a bunch of no's just like any other prospecting method is you are attempting to process enough people that can be receptive to your presentation.

It's called prospecting. It's a necessary evil. You have to have people to talk to. Whether you buy leads(there are many types), buy data lists and cold call on the phone/cold door knock or canvass door to door...it's all about prospecting. The referrals will come...they have to be earned.
