Client Profile...
73 year old female, non smoker, little thick but not overweight, no history of cancer or diseases, currently taking one medication for blood pressure and one for cholesterol.
Issue = Mistake on her MIB record. It shows renal disease, kidney failure, and diabetes with insulin reported by XYZ (not sure if I could name it) a few years ago. Carrier at that time pulled APS due to coverage limits. The mistake came from when she changed health care providers. It was a mistake on the new patient medical history survey the insured completed.
When I reviewed the entire medical records, it does show where the error which was during one visit then following visit showed none of it. No medication for those issues were ever taken. Current doctor at the clinic also write a doctor's note stating client does not have any history of those medical issues.
Problem with current carrier, Americo!
I wrote an application through Eagle for the client but the system kicked back saying only guaranteed could be offered due to medical record and past application. Client after getting declined from the carrier who reported the medical issue mistake, applied for the ultra protector but declined since a rated policy was offered.
I called into Americo the next day and informed them of the situation. Americo UW said to get the previous 3 years medical record for them to review which I did. Americo then said they can't manually change policy nor can they re order the MIB since it is all automated. The system is pulling the MIB from the old application and giving the client a guaranteed policy.
U/W then advised to have the client apply for the Ultra Protector so they can do everything manually? Followed their instructions and completed the application. Americo declined again saying they can't override it?
Is it me or Americo is just pulling my leg. Client have a current FE policy with another big name carrier who saw the issue but overrode it. Client prefers to have a FE policy with living benefits and ADR since her currently policy does not offer it. This is in CA.
Anybody have tips on who I can speak to at Americo to get this issued cleared or is there another carrier in CA who is easier to work with?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
PS - We are currently disputing her MIB report so hopefully this won't happen to her in the future.
