Anyone else on this forum do business in Nevada? It has been really tough to place monoline auto business. I am looking to see if anyone can recommend carriers to look into for these monoline auto policies.
Just in the last few years here is a list of the issues we have had from carriers we use/used on personal lines:
Encompass/Allstate- pricing went haywire about 3 years ago and they only are very rarely competitive. Wrote in last 2 years with them what we used to in 2 weeks
Infinity- pulled out of state
Hartford- pulled out of state (for us anyway)
Nationwide/Titan- pulled out of state
CSE (regional)- only will take autos with home policy (HO4 doesn't count) and previous limits must be 100/300+ which wipes out numerous monoline clients
Travelers- only will write auto with home policy
Mendota- rates shot way up and are no longer competitive for all but the most "challenged" clients
American General- won't write auto in NV
That leaves us with basically- Safeco, Progressive, Mercury and Kemper. All 3 have had significant rate increases but not as drastic as the previously mentioned companies which aren't competitive anymore or flat out won't write. Hoping I am missing a carrier that I am unaware of someone can turn me on to. Getting tons of calls to quote but due to pricing and above mentioned restrictions only able to help 2-3 out of 10 anymore. It used to be the opposite. Not to mention losing many clients due to existing policy rate increases with no outlet to rewrite.
