I was thinking of doing a mail-out for med-supps, do they pay as much as MA? One company I was looking to use is Goleads for tha mail-out, ever use them, if so are they any good? From what I see, the only way to market MA is by mail, right?

Correction, you can't sell MA unless it's a SEP or T65 or Duals which covers alot of people ya even millions of people! I'm to late?

in the off time stick with med-supps and FE. t65 is tough they think they know it all and dont need to speak to an agent they can get there plan online or in the mail....after they turn 66-67 they relize Ed Mcmann is not an insurance guru and there mail man cant answer there questions. thats been my experiance, but good luck. let me know if you find something diffrent. Thanks.

If you think that way then that is what you will get. Our company markets to mostly turning 65 seniors and it is a great market. It definitely takes a different approach. You can not try and push something or sell something to someone turning 65. You have to make them feel they already know a lot but also ask them questions and educate them on things they do not know. You need to have patience. You have may have to follow up 10 times before you get a sale. You need to do something to stand out from the other 36 agents calling them on a weekly basis. A lot of it is mindset. If you truly believe seniors in that market are hard to market to and know it all then that is what you will get. However, if you feel confident and believe they need your help, things will turn around.

They are hard to market to, but, they do need our help. You are correct that it takes patience to get them to realize that.

It takes patience mainly because the government has made it so confusing for them. They have certain dates they have to do things by now. There are 4 parts to Medicare now, A, B, C and D, there are 12 standardized Medicare Supplements, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L. If they move they usually have to find a new Part C or D plan. They now have AEP, SEP's, OEP, etc. etc. What the heck! I have 20 years experience doing this and I've never seen so many confused people about the whole situation. I've had a lot of people tell me in the last 2 or 3 years that they've always considered themselves very intelligent, but to try and figure this out, they've never felt so dumb. I've had to reassure them it's not them, it's all the new rules, plans, etc.

It's been said before on this board, they should let people join a plan or drop a plan anytime they want, just like with the Medicare supplements. That way if a plan doesn't work for them, they can get out of it.

But that would make sense, so thats out the window, any other suggestions that would be stupid and force an agent and there clients to take an all day trip to unnecessary land? CMS is only interested in those...
