I can't say I have noticed any big upticks. Although today, four people clicked "apply online" on my website.
Of course, that means, only one will go through the entire process.

Do you think people are more in touch with their mortality because they are broke? Almost like having money makes you feel invincible so you don't care about dying but when you're broke you feel like you already have one foot in the grave? It has to be some type of mental thing brought on by all of the hype surrounding the crappy economy and the reality of it hitting so many people.
I actually had two people JUST laid off buy policies... I would have thought they wouldn't want to because of the reduction in income but they said it was more important to them now. I didn't want them to elaborate on it so I just left it at that but it just surprised me.

Folks lose their life coverage usually when they lose their jobs, in addition, I am finding that folks are starting to really notice what they are paying for coverage and want to compare to see if their current coverage is competitive. Great opportunity for independent agents to really help these folks as well as generate substantial income.
