New Girl - with Questions...

Hi All!!
What a great forum and opportunity to talk with other agents/brokers throughout the country. I am fairly new to the insurance business sales side. I was in Human Resources for 8 years so I do have experience. I am currently licensed for Life and Health in Nevada.

I just have a question on additional / higher learning. I have noticed some certificate classes that can be taken to give yourself a higher education. Do you have any thoughts on it? Is it worth it (since Medicare will not let you use any designation in marketing)? If it is worth it...which one is good? (I apologize if this is not the right place for this question, I could not find another appropriate place.)

Thanks and I look forward to working with all of you to achieve common goals!

Do you plan on working in the senior market? I'm not sure that there are any "certificate" classes that are going to help you learn to sell Med Supps.

You may want to give me a call, I offer training and contracts to sell Med Supps and cross sell FE.

Welcome!

I haven't been in the business very long but I can tell you this is a business of relationships. You can have as many degrees and certificates as you want but if there is no relationship, there is little chance of a sale. Some Medicare companies do require a certificate from AHIP to sell MA's and PDP's but most other products in the life area don't need anything additional besides a license. I hope this helps!

Spot on! Certificate classes are not going to teach one how to sell and build the relationships necessary to be successful.

The only company that requires certification to sell their Med Supps is United Health Care (AARP). There are no certification requirements to sell Med Supps with any of the other companies.[/quote]

All companies selling Medicare Part C plans and PDP plans require certification to sell their products.
