hello to all,

i was directed here by a friend who frequents this site.

i just closed my business and am looking for a job. i've run my own businesses (completely unrelated to insurance sales) for most of the last 25 years.

in any event, i met with a guy who, after a resume and interview and so forth, offered to train me to sell insurance as a contractor for his agency. he seems like a great guy and sold me on the whole deal...until i talked to my friend.

my friend started asking questions about who owns the client and no comp agreements etc. now, i'm very interested in selling insurance--the potential money is attractive, seems to be a way to provide a needed service, etc. so, before i make any commitments, sign anything, or pay $130 for an online course, i'm trying to do some homework.

i'll search the boards before asking any direct questions.

thanks to all,
missingbigbad

p.s. hey c

i think if you have to pay for training, ect and have a non compete .. you should be able to find a better deal .
theres alot of captive companys that have no non compete

thanks for the warm welcome. it's 3:22 am and i've been sucking up answers since 8:30 pm. i'm starting to formulate a plan and a list of ideas/questions. i will try to log off and get at least a partial night's sleep.

i'll read more tomorrow. i want to do my best to avoid asking questions that have been answered elsewhere on the forum. again, thanks to all for your work in amassing this tremendous resource. this has to been one of the most comprehensive forums i have ever seen, on any topic.

Welcome:
I agree with the other person. If you have to pay for training keep looking for a better FMO, IMO, MGA, GA what ever you want to call them.
Support and training are key ingredients to your success and any good GA would have training available to all new agents.:skeptical:

This helps everyone succeed.

Welcome to the board, the people here are a wealth of info, but watch your step. Some here get a might cranky sometimes. Try to look at past threads before asking, but feel free to ask questions. It is unavoidable and you will repeat some previously asked questions, but that's ok as long as it doesn't become a habit. Then we will think that not only are you ignorant, your're also lazy.

:D
