New Hampshire Denied Waiver - Can Phase in MLR

"While HHS denied New Hampshire’s waiver, it struck a compromise, ruling instead that Granite state insurance companies would need to spend 72 percent on health care this year, 75 percent in 2012 and 80 percent in 2013 and beyond.

NH Insurance Department officials were not immediately available for comment."

Only one state, or should I say "carrier" has been granted a full MLR waiver. The carrier in that state is Mega Life which is owned by the Blackstone Group which just happens to be owned by Goldman Sachs.

Granite State officials planned and hoped that ObamaCare would generate some competition between the state's insurers. But alas, only ONE company is likely to be "competing" in the New Hampshire exchange..

Don't know not really following it as I don't sell major medical here in GI land of Maine. But I will say this if New Hampshire which actually had somewhat of a market goes this route it makes me wonder how bad Maine will be.
