New Health Agent Seeks Leads for Training

This is my first post so I will give you a little background. I have been in sales for my entire career, starting with consumer goods, going to telecom, and spending the last 5 years in the powersports industry as a VP of Sales for a small American manufacturer.

We decided to get into the insurance market a year ago, specializing in Medicare Advantage products. We did very well selling Evercare in the off season and a large portfolio of MA products during the AEP. Many things, including the new prospecting restrictions, the short selling season and limits on commissions led us to move into the individual health markets to supplement and eventually replace our MA sales efforts.

We have contracted the major carriers in our market (except BCBS)through Health Choice One, joined the IHIAA, went through all of the IHIAA trainings, a training with Rob Liano, and all of the product trainings with HCO and the ones available with the carriers. Our Norvax and website is set up (web site still needs some work), my wife and I have practiced our pitch on each other, friends and family, and I think we are ready to start making calls.

I'm not sure where this idea came from (it is not one of my original thoughts), but the idea is to get some old leads at a very low cost and use them for practice with live potential clients. I would view it as training and any sales made would be a plus, thus the request for inexpensive leads in volume.

What do you guys think of the idea and does anyone have a good source of leads like I mentioned above.

Thanks in advance for any and all guidence and help!

When I first started...gulp..with Mega, I was so anxious that I called from the yellow pages during training breaks. I sold a bit over 10K AV my first week, from calling free leads via the yellow pages.

I did not call large companies, but called mom and pop type of companies. It is all about timing, make enough calls and you will get some prospects. You can practice your pitch, and it costs nothing.
