New in Tennessee

I am a new health/life agent in the Nashville, Tn. area. I want to say hello and introduce myself.

I have been reading and learning from the forum for about three months and thought it was time to join in. Lots of great info here, and a ton of laughs.

I am focusing on life/fe and med supps.
My background was as a phara rep for 20 years, so I am used to working long hours. Have always worked out of a home office, so no surprises there.

I underestimated how "easy" shifting gears was going to be. Selling, educating and marketing to Dr.'s is different than selling, educating and marketing to individuals. I know duh.

I have mainly focused on cold calling, and did my first mailer. Sent 1000 out and received 14 back. (They were the ones from GPM offering a free "Memorial Guide") Set 10 appointments and sold 7 life policies. Have received 3 referrals from three of these clients. whoo whoo...

Signed up with GPM, Royal Neighbors, Fidelity, Assurity, Sagicor, Monumental, Moo, United Home Life. UHC/GPM/MOO for med supps. Oxford and Lafayette are in the works..
Any other carriers out there that I should look at?


Are there any other agents in the Nashville area that would want to get together for a coffee or a drink to share and bounce around ideas?

Welcome.. Would take you up on the coffee but I am in the eastern part of the sate. One FE company you might want to look at is Settlers.. Class act.. Their HO is in Bristol.

Keep it up, focus on just final expense for the first 6 to 12 months, and you'll do fine.

The last thing you need is MORE companies. You have plenty.

I'd pick 2, maybe 3, and go from there for 6 months before adding more.

I'd go with Monumental and 5-Star. That's all you need to sell FE.

Thank you for the warm welcome and advice on carriers. A few of them I signed up with for a particuliar reason, ie. diabetic, copd & oxygen, etc. Monumental and GPM have been my go to's. Assurity and Sagicor have been used as well.

John, I do not have 20 posts at this time, so I can not PM you. Also, I am not comfortable posting my phone or email on here. I feel I would be inviting all kinds of wack a doos, and spammers.

I would be more than happy to talk with you, unclear how to exchange information at this time.

There are a few nut cases on here but I can assure you there are no wack a doos...
