New P&C Agent In Utah

So my experience has been in the life/health industry. I am really wanting to do P&C. I am being heavily marketed by a few captive companies (Farmers in particular) but it seems this wouldnt be the best way in the long run. Maybe I should do a small stint with Farmers to get some experience first. Is there anyone that can give me some direction? I would love to hear from a local Utahn as well if youre out there.
