New to Site!

Hello All!
Just wanted to drop a quick line that I finally joined the site and stopped lurking.

In a nutshell, I was in insurance for many years, and left in 2008, and now I am looking to be an independent broker.

In my "past life" I worked in personal lines claims for Progressive Insurance, and then got headhunted to work for a large E&S Carrier, in their Claims Dept. I handled multi-lines for moderate to complex claims issues for many years in: Transportation/Brokerage/GL (General Liability)/Specialty books of business; moved to Legal and did some regulatory work; worked in Premium Audits for awhile, and then left the industry to do some other things.

Now, I'm baaaaaack. I have some contacts in underwriting and claims at my former company; so, I am hopeful they will be able to make some introductions for me to GA's & MGA's. I will be looking initially in a niche primarily of restaurants/bars/taverns and commercial auto. I don't intend on doing any personal lines at all (I have a friend who I could refer these too, if necessary, as she's licensed in most states).

I look forward to asking questions and hopefully helping others. I will be taking my P&C License here in Colorado in September (my license expired about a year ago, and I failed to renew it :(....didn't think I'd be getting back in insurance again!) Anyway, upon a. successful completion to obtain my P&C license and b. successfully getting licensed, then I can ask more questions, since then I'll know I can forge ahead!

Appreciate reading all of the information I have for the past three months here, and looking forward to contributing and asking questions too!

Thanks, CTG! Yes, Denver is nice; however, I'll be moving from here next year to the Pacific NW. It will be a change, but I'm looking forward to it!

That's part of my issue, in that, I will be (hopefully) getting licensed here in CO, and then getting non-resident licenses in: WA, AZ, CA, OR & NV. I want to do a lot of work in the West.

I'm a new guy. I work part time with an IMO and work another full time job. I've only sold FE for 6 months now and have been trying to absorb all the good advice on here. I'm still a total noob. I know there is much to learn and a quite a bit of hard work ahead of me to become successful. Hopefully I can use the forums to guide me in the right direction to avoid some of the pitfalls that accompany the FE business.
