Ya get 'em at the "gettin place".

All kidding aside, I only use lists for Med Supps. I do not waste my money buying leads. I get mine from Lead Concepts. Yes I buy them and I believe they will only sell lists that have been scrubbed. The last time I purchased a list it was around $100 for 1,000 names.

I order them for people 67 to 78 with incomes starting at $12,000. I think they may have upped their minimum income to $15,000 which is still okay.

For every 1000 numbers called, how many result in appointments and then how many result into sales? Please share how you qualify when making the appointment. Thanks!

You first have to tell me how good you are. No, that is not a "smart ass" statement. I can guarantee you that, if it were possible, you could give two agents the same list and one will "strike out" and the other will sell like hell.

The figures would be meaningless. There is a technique to calling and it is a very calculated, well practiced one. It doesn't just "happen" after a few calls.

There is a lot more to it than just having a "script". The most important part, even almost more important than what is said, is the timing with which it is said. It is a contest between the agent and the prospect. If the agent lets the prospect say "I'm not interested" then the agent loses the "contest" and may as well go on to the next call.

Before I make an appointment I know the company they currently have their insurance with and how much they are paying. They know how much the policy will cost if they take it with me, and I know if they will qualify.

If I don't have at least most of that information then I will be very reluctant to set the appointment.

Assuming I don't sell it over the phone, when I get to the appointment I don't try to "sell" them the policy. By educating them about Medicare and the Medicare Supplement Insurance using factual information presented in a logical manner they really don't have legitimate reason for not taking it. I write an app and collect a check on almost 100% of the appointments I go on.

Since I don't have to "sell" them the policy, what I do sell is me.

I think you can get list for around $35 per 1000 names if you look around we set our agents up so they can purchase for $35. I know Mo has a similar source they use for $35 as well.

All list companies that sell lists are not created equal.

The big difference in them is how often they update their information. I have purchased "cheap" lists and when I begin calling I find that a lot of the people haven't live there for several years or died several years ago.

It is really awkward when the person who answers the phone says that "Mr. Smith" died two years ago. Kind of hard to start "pitching" to Mrs. Smith at that point.
