NML Payout 35% of GDC in First Year?

Spoke with the specialist today and is apparently the company line. I cannot fathom giving 65% of my commission to anyone other than my wife. I'm staring again, but I know I will generate 60-75000 in my first year and likely a lot more. There is no review in the first year and no dollar one payback if you move up the grid.
Say it ain't so????

Based on all your posts here, you really seem to like NML, but I cannot seem to grasp why. Generally their products are equal to, or inferior to everything else out there. However, their culture is overblown with a sense of superiority. Everything I've ever heard about NML makes it seem like the program is completely designed to enrich the GAs, sales managers, and corporate management to a degree unlike the rest of the mutuals and major career shops. You shouldn't be surprised when you constantly find out just how greedy people can be.

35%??????????????????

:D:D:D:D

Let me guess, if you pay more commissions to NML, that means they'll have more money to pay you in career agent benefits!

Kind of like their excuse for having grossly over priced insurance products across the board.

This company is a joke. There, now my true feelings came out.

You have experience and appear to have a market that will make you a fair sum of money. You shouldn't really be talking to this company.

This company's success and image is purely a case study on how well marketing an image works. It's kind of like the CFP designation, only highly coveted because the the CFP board has done such a great job making people think it's important.

Good points.

The only time I have competed with NML I came out with a $1,000 a month policy and the client came out with more insurance. Of the dozens of companies I have written over the years I have never had a claim not paid. Well just one, But that company is barely a company.

On CFP - In 25 years I have only been asked one time if I was CLU, CFP, LUTCF or WTF. And that was my then future father in law.

I love competing with NWM, I always win. There are plenty of other B/D with much higher payouts. Been asked once if I was a CFP, said nope end of discussion, they became a client. It's not how many letters behind your name, it is the value you bring to the table.

Letters in the name are more important than those after. Your name is you and a good name is a blessing, a bad name is a difficult thing to overcome.

Yes I guess I do like NML but there is no rational reason except that I never lost a competitive case when I was with them. I reckon it was because I was good and people trusted me. Mass Mutual will not let me or the client down. Perhaps therapy will help... Years and years of therapy. ;)
