I am a part-time agent and was just notified today that a clients account did not have enough to cover the transfer. This is the first time this has happened to me and need some advice before I contact the client. Do I ask for permission to run the draft again or exactly how does this work? The lady is late 50's and does have a decent job. Just could use some help before speaking to her.
Thanks

First you should check with the carrier. Some handle it differently than others.

Call the lady up and tell her that her draft wasn't honored at the bank. She may know already, she may not.

Then simply ask her what she wants to do about it.

If she wants it redrafted or to draft 2 months next month or what ever she wants then call the company with those instuctions. If they will do what she wants then they will tell you how to get it done.

I always act concerned/confused. I say
"Hey it looks like there was an issue with your monthly back draft" then I shutup and wait for their response.

A couple have said they don't want the coverage.
Some play dumb

50%-75% already know there was a problem. Often they will ask if they can make it up next month because something came up.

Most of my companies now days will require the insured to call in to request a double draft or to re draft.

One big question is. .. is it the first monthly payment or have they already been paying and then this happened. If it's the first there may be an issue with the account number

I also tell them that I have over drafted my checking a time or two. (Which is true)
We all get busy and forget about a payment coming out our forget we wrote a check. This makes them feel better and not that you are looking down on them

Transamerica, if client has NSF, they automatically take it off PAC, & put it on quarterly direct bill, then if client wants to continue PAC, client has to call to give instructions, they do not accept instructions from the agent, drives me crazy, how do you guys deal with it?

Lot of companies won't let the agent put it back on draft. Most will let me get the client on the pnone or they will call them themselves. Some want it in writing.

I deal with it however I need to. If it's in writing I get it in writing. I don't think I have a company now that will let the agent restart the draft.

Unless it is your account, you have no business giving someone permission to deduct from it. They are doing you a favor.

Now, when they won't take it from the client over the phone or insist on a physical check before going back on PAC? That drives me up the wall.
