Have been licensed since early February. Captive with an agency. Last week I had to request to be released from contract due to family issues. Looking at working independent on a part time basis while family stuff gets sorted out.

This is a career and not a job. It is really hard when getting started to do this part time. It is even hard if you do it full time.

You may want to sort out your family issues and then give it all you have and do this full time.

Thanks for the input. I know this is a career vs. just a job. It's difficult to get started yes, even harder when you have to help take care of a family member who does not qualify for LTCI.
Does anyone know of any agencies that I should completely avoid? Others that you might recommend for a new agent to work with??? Any help, suggestions are most appreciated.

I recently did something similar...I'm wondering now-when you leave a GA, should you get a written "release"? How does that work? If I had no debts/advances on the books, I would think I'm automatically released right?
