Looks like now that Obama has gotten approval for the health care subsidy/cobra extension that he is looking for someone to explain to him how it will work.

Needless to say this is a sign of things to come. Adopt first, figure out how it will work later.

And none of those countries have thier citizens go bankrupt due to healthcare costs. Imagine not 1 American citizen going bankrupt due to healthcare costs instead of 2 every minute.

There are populations in the world that have no health care system at all and their people live longer, have less heart disease, less cancer, and practically no diabetes compared to Americans. Interesting what one could propose for a health care system based on that data just for giggles.

Also, there are many who agree with, for example, your statement about the French system. Most conservatives agree that adopting the financial, economic, and health care policies of France will make us.......er....ahhh...well.... like France. Up until the last election many Americans wanted to see if there was some way to improve health care in this country without becoming a complete and total nanny state like the Brits and France. Those days are long gone. It is just full speed ahead now. You will get the socialist programs.....and your kids most likely will live in a government subsidized apartment rather than a house. There is a free lunch only in Obamaland and Barneyville.

"Free" healthcare is never free. That is impossible. Where does the money come from? Taxes. Who pays taxes? Citizens. How is this free now? I'm sure everyone here would love to pay $8/gallon for gas and 60% of their paycheck in taxes.

Less incidence of heart disease, obesity and diabetes in those societies due to better diet and exercise. Americans don't take care of themselves and are are in general fatter and lazier due to prosperity in this country.

Smaller more homogeneous populations. Higher per capita taxation combined with flat economic growth and very little military obligations (They rely on us for our markets and our military)

It would be an utter failure in this country because of the fact that the average American is irresponsible, incompetent and always acts against his own best interests in matters of health and usually in all ways generally.

Also, no medical system in those countries to diagnose and record illnesses anyway so it often appears that some that do exist do not.

Their tax rates are also much higher than the tax rates here in the US...For now any way.

Also note that most of the medical advancements happen right here in the USA and that the rest of the world gets to benefit from that. Our free market economy allows for the incentive of profit to drive these industries as well as all other markets. Once you nationalize the health care system, you take away the incentives for people to create and expand the medical technology that the rest of the world is also benefiting from since the government will be rationing health care development funds since they would be paying the entire bill now.
