Obamacare to Blame for Cubs Silly Rainout?

The long-suffering Cubbies were embarrassed last week when their short-staffed grounds crew couldn't get a tarp over the baseball diamond in time during a downpour to prevent the game from being called. What's really interesting is the apparent reason why the crew was short-staffed: Obamacare.

The Cubs it seems are trying to keep grounds crew staffers below 130 hours per month so they don't have to provide them with health insurance.

Insurance Forums | Obamacare the real reason behind last week

Surely many companies are acting in a similar fashion; just removed from the public eye. Anybody have some stories they've heard similar to this where employers are now limiting hours to avoid providing health insurance?

Yet the cubs are making bank even as losers on the field. Nope, that is just a excuse, they had already sent employees home that day.

Obamacare is just a plan design change. We deal with plan changes every year. This is just another one.

Of course it's happening, but no company in their right mind would announce it publicly as they would be turned upside down with boycotts if the MSM ever got wind of it.

Not only is it happening top down (employer decision), but it's happening from the bottom up (employee driven). I have several clients that now understand the law, and due to the family glitch, are asking for fewer hours (waiting tables in this part time economy), so they are NOT eligible for group coverage, and they can actually afford a family policy given the huge tax credits they would now be eligible for.

As more people get educated on how this law works, it WILL change their behavior..........and sitting on the couch becomes more attractive.

Remember the day when people looked for jobs that offered health insurance..........that will soon change.

Great for us...bad for the country.

I respectfully disagree. Great for us and great for the country.

We don't want people making career decisions based on co-pays and deductibles. We want them to do what they do best then we all win!

We don't want them sitting on the couch to get cheaper premiums, either
