One Question For An Old Auto Repairs Claim

I recently found a claim check for nine thousand dollars for auto repairs that I had lost 4 years ago. I didn't bother to repair the car, and after all oft the aggravation involved in settling the initial claim, I didn't bother to request a replacement check. Mind you this check is 4 years old. If I were to deposit it into my bank account would there be any issues? Thank you for any useful responses.

There's only one way to find out. LOL

Is there no small print say the check is void if not deposited with X amount of days? There is on the checks I give out. I honestly doubt it goes through.

How does someone just let $9k go? And how do you not repair $9k in damage? Was this just hail damage?

Re: One Question.

No there is nothing printed on the check, and i was lucky enough to sell the car for scrap an parts to someone for 7000. So I really didn't want the extra hassle. I'm just worried that if I deposit it now that I might end up on a terrorist watch list or something. Thanks for your response.

Re: One Question.

How does one lose a check for 9 grand and not put a stop pay on it and not have a new one issued?

I was lucky enough to sell the car for scrap an parts to someone for 7000. So I really didn't want the extra hassle. I knew it was in the house somewhere, not lost or stolen so I didn't consider putting a stop payment on it. I just happened to find it now. I'm just worried that if I deposit it now that I might end up on a terrorist watch list or something. Thanks for your response.

Good luck...you'll need it

i would deposit it thru the atm. and hold your breathe, or you could just call the insurance company, blame your wife, you thought it was deposited... i would deposit it... as long as it is a real check. play dumb! did you keep the claims file, so you could proof, you are owed the money.... good luck

Burn the check since u do not need it. What's the stuff about being a terriost are you??

See, this is the weird **** I dont understand, why do people come on here and ask "stupid or weird" questions,

Would you really do what some stranger says in a bulliten board?

Call the friggin insurance company and ask, that is the only real answer you will get!

Worst case, deposit it into your account, I can guarentee you the bank will but a hold on the funds until it clears, if it clears, then you have your answer, if it doesnt clear, the bank will return the check to you and then you will have to do your only real answer, contact the friggin insurance company, they will probally simply cut you a new check.

It really isnt that complicated.
