I am a newly licensed P & C agent in California and would like to get P & C carrier appointment, WIAA is my prefered choice but it refuse to accept E & O coverage issued by UnitedDefendCo.com . I s there any other carrier that will accept UnitedDefendCo.com's E & O ? Or alternatively, is there any other E & O insurance providers that will provide coverage for newly licensed agent for less than $2000 ? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

try aon/affinity...they are not always the cheapest but they are fair priced and you will never have those type of problems

I thought WIAA will get you reasonble E & O when you sign up with them. That's what they advertise on their site.

United Deffend Co seems almost like a joke. They are located in South America, they are not an "Insurance Company" but rather a risk pool... so your money goes into a pool and if there is a claim it is taken from the pool and paid... so they say. I talked with them today actually, the man reluctantly answered the questions a had for him. I too have been shopping E&O for a startup agency and decided to run away from them. They dont have a carrier rating either since they are not an insurance company. Most Insurance Companies want to know the rating of the E&O carrier as well, so when there is no rating available it throws up a flag for them. Anyway just my 2 cents...

I am in Maryland and I havn't received a quote yet for under $3000. If you find one under $2000 that sounds like a great deal, I would jump on that.

What does WIAA stand for?

Western Independent Agents Association. They have a great E&O program for small agents (< 3M in revenue). I shopped hard for E&O in my first year and still ended up paying $3K+ for with Lloyds. I found the WIAA program through Brown&Brown/Fireman's Fund for my second renewal and dropped my premium to $1675 with better terms and a lower deductible. My most recent renewal was flat even though my written premium increased by $750K. It is a good program and the renewal was simple.

I have not used their MGA services (WIAA Insurance Services) but my interactions with the organization have been very positive. I talked to them because they had a few carriers I don't (specifically Employers, BHHC and Everest for WC). They appear to have the markets you need to be competitive in California for personal and commercial lines. Travelers, Met Life and Safeco are solid for personal lines and Golden Eagle, Travelers, CNA and their WC carriers are very competitive for CL. They appear to be a pretty good organization.

Check Better Business Bureau or Insurance Dept before you buy any insurance online! UnitedDefendco.com is not licensed and its address is named under "Forward Mailbox". It just file as an insurance agency with no asset. Your money is gone.!!!
