Do any of you people know what your close ratios are?
If so how many carriers do you all write for?

I am checking out an offer that claims a very high, imo, close ratio. I am just trying to see if this is legit. I would like to verify that this is possible because this is, by far, the highest that I have ever heard of.
I would like to hear both personal lines and commercial if people are willing to share it. This is primarily for my own personal inquiry.
The only way to have a really high closing ratio is to work only off of referrals and not aggressively market new business. At that point the question is if you would rather close 80% of 25 quotes for 20% of 200 quotes per year. It is a lot harder but you still end up ahead. Even if you have a awesome niche product you will only close 50-60% because the incumbent can usually create enough doubt to keep the business half the time. If somebody tells you they are closing well above 50%... they are either lying or they work off of referral business. Avg agency retention is near 90%... it takes a lot to move an account that the incumbent actually wants to retain.
