Please Critique My Medicare Supplement Script

Hey guys,
I'm fairly new in the insurance business. Our agency generates leads by cold calling only. Presently, we call a prospect and tell them that we'd like to review the Medicare benefits for 2010, and set an appointment.

But... I'd like to try something different. Here it goes....

"Hi Mr./Mrs. ____________. This is Kayur with National Senior Resources here in Irving. I'm calling seniors in your area who want to save money on their Medicare Supplement Insurance, without any change in coverage. Would you be interested in a free quote today to see how much you can save?"

If they say YES.... I'd go on to ask some pre-qualifying questions.

If NO......"So you're not interested in saving 30% or more on your Med-supp? This will only take a few minutes."

Lastly, in your opinion, what is the best age range to call for Med supp. Also if i could narrow the list down by house hold income, what would that be.

Thanks for your help guys.

I generate all of my own leads.

My thoughts:

"Hi Mr./Mrs. ____________. My name is Kayur Smith (use your full name) with National Senior Resources. I'm calling let you know that Medicare has made substantial changes this year that can result in savings in your monthly premiums. May I ask how much your current plan is costing you each month?"

Eliminate where you live, all quotes are "free", no one charges for one. Don't say you are "calling seniors in your area". Make it sound personal, "in your area" makes you sound like a telemarketer. Don't tell them you can save them "30% or more" unless you know you can. Everyone says that without knowing whether or not they can even save them money. They are wise to that language.

If they tell you how much they are paying then tell them exactly how much a Med Supp will cost if they had a plan with you. That is not "secret information" and there is no logical reason for you not to tell them unless all you are after is the appointment and not necessarily a sale.

I stopped setting appointments to do "Medicare Reviews" years and years ago. It is not a cost effective use of my time. When I set the appointment they know that I'm coming to get a signature and pick up a check.

Thanks Frank, i'll definitely give that a try.

In your opinion, what is the best age range and household income to call for Med-supp?

Thannks again

I target ages 67 to 78 with incomes high enough to eliminate people who are on Medicaid. I use $15,000 income and above. Depending on what you experience you may want to bump that up a little.

I don't target people turning 65 for a whole host of reasons.
