Potential for Home Insurance to Cover Him?

My younger brother landed himself in a fair bit of trouble when he was just 15.

Long story short, he was in a verbal altercation at a house party (all underage minors with alcohol) which led to a physical altercation. Both parties were physically involved, but the other individual had more severe injuries, therefore my brother was arrested. Charged and found guilty in juvenile court.

He is now being sued by the other individual.

I do realize this is a long shot, but figured someone here might be able to elaborate. Is there any chance at all our parents insurance company at the time will defend my brother here?

No they will tell you to take a hike since the statute of limitation is over. Is your brother out of jail now?

I'm not sure what statute of limitation you are referring to. The statute of limitation to make an insurance claim? I was not aware of such a statute; if you could refer me to more information regarding that, I would appreciate it.

My brother never went to jail for the incident.

Would it hurt to file a claim anyways? How long would that process take (for the insurance company to review it)? And what documents do people generally have to submit to them in these cases?

There is likely no coverage for the brother but the parents might very well have coverage if sued. Depends on the allegations of the claim and what the policy says.
