First, I really appreciate all of the helpful information that is posted here.

Question--I know that from the main page we can double click to mark as read topics that we are not interested in (such as P&C for me), but is there a way we can get threads to not show up in our unread posts?

Hi,
That exception cannot be made on individual basis, therefore you will see threads from all forums (except non-insurance) in the unread posts listings.

But there is a way around not having forums show up in unread posts listings. As you said, if you double click the said forum icons on homepage, it will mark all the threads in that forum as read, and afterward when you click on Unread Posts, you will be shown only the unread posts from other forums.

Yep, I was aware of that process and use it. I was hoping that there might be a way to ignore (other than manually) certain threads...such as ones that have gone off the deep end and don't apply to the subject.
