For those of you interested in search engine optimization, SEOmoz has published their 2009 Search Engine Ranking Factors. Basically, they surveyed a group of SEO consultants on what factors they thought were most important, tallied the results, and are sharing what they learned.
I don't think there are any real surprises here, but it's still worth a look.
From the survey:
TOP 5 RANKING FACTORS:
TOP 5 NEGATIVE RANKING FACTORS
Of course, this is just the "how". You'll still need to figure out the "what", as in "what keywords should you focus on?" and "what strategies should you put in place to get good links to your site". For that, I'd recommend talking with an expert that focuses on insurance sites like everyone's favorite SEO guru Dave Miller.
And you'll still need a good site. For that I recommend talking to - well - me.
