How does an agent sell life insurance over the phone since a life insurance application requires the applicant's signature?

Telephonic signature.
Sometimes email. Snail mail.
I haven't heard of a telephonic signature. Does that mean there are ways to sign potential clients over the phone without sending applications and signatures back and forth through mail?

Yep.
How does that work? I didn't know insurance companies accept signatures that aren't physically on paper.

Some will. It's actually fairly popular in health insurance. There are a lot of compliance aspects to doing this successfully, from storage of recordings to verification, etc.
it's not for everyone. But it could be an option.
