Hey all! Long time lurker and learner here, first time poster. I'm looking for some help from you seasoned gents (and ladies).
A little background. I have been in the industry for 4 years. Started at a SF office that was heavy in life. Decided to go independent to have more time with my kids, thought it would be a breeze. That's what Facebook told me. It wasn't. Shocker. Took a LOA position doing Medicare, figured the best of both worlds, support and freedom. Now realizing the LOA position is a terrible deal. I get 30% commission, only med supp leads that were cold called by an oversees caller and who really did not agree to be called back besides being confused and saying "uhm ok" after being told a specialist will call them , and a CRM system that still has so many kinks to work out and doesn't work well. I work about 10 hours a day right now, and have really missed out on the great possiblities of AEP becuase the leads I am getting are so low intent. I am dissppointed because I really like and respect the agency owners and they are extremely responsive and provide training. But that won't pay my bills.
I did find out one thing, I am great at senior sales. I build rapport extremely quickly and put the kind of care needed into the sale. This is my niche. And I want to grow it in my local community by offering all senior products- medicare, life, annuities, long term care, short term..etc. I do not want to be a telesales agent anymore chasing crappy leads. I want to learn how to market and build my own little one woman agency.
I am in Southern California, Los Angeles area and would very much like to find a mentor and an excellent Senior FMO who will help me with the education and resources to succeed. Any recommendations?
