Senior Sales

I currently have my P&C and Life & Health in Texas. I work for a State Farm agent and am sick of seeing my hard work going into the agents pocketbook!

I just want to focus on one thing. I enjoy the senior market and would like to be my own boss by selling only senior products.

Any advice? What should I do, and how should I get started?

Thanks!

What do you like doing the most?

I like doing my own thing. Knowing that I can improve life for seniors with products. Just want to run an honest shop and help those who need help. Sell and reccomend products I would want my own mother to have.

I am most interested in selling Medicare Supplements, Long Term Care and Life Insurance. I am not ready to move into annuities and want to stay away from P&C.

I still sell Med Supps but use to also write a lot of LTCi and life. All of my LTCi and life sales originally came from Med Supp sales. Med Supps are a lot easier to get appointments for and get you in the door.

It is really quite easy to get started selling Med Supps. Find the companies in your state that have the best rates to get contracted with. The TX DOI should be have a list of all the companies.

You can easily get started without investing a lot of money. It isn't necessary to spend a huge amount of money to begin prospecting. I do not believe that purchasing leads is necessary when marketing Med Supps. I have not purchased a "lead" for at least 6 or 8 years.

Be cautcious who you deal with when contracting with the companies you choose. Call Todd (TRK3031962), he has posted in this thread, and he will be able to help you and not screw you over like a lot of marketers will try to do.

Find a mentor and learn everything there is to know about Medicare and Medicare Supplement policies. Doing your own telemarketing will serve you well. It is really quite easy when you know how and your ROI is huge.
