I have some very good blogposts that attract traffic and others that don't do as well.

Would I be better off to rework an indexed post, making it more search engine friendly with improved keyword placement or start a new post on the same topic but concentrating on better SEO "honey"?

when u say attract traffic? do u mean like linkbait? others are linking to it and ur getting traffic that way? or do u mean through organic traffic?

u prob wouldnt need to add content if it's already a decent sized post just build some backlinks to it.

This is all educated guess work, but as a rule you're almost always better off just adding more content.

You got me Mark.

What I do know is some posts are getting hits on a regular basis and turning in to prospects, while others seem to never show up.

You're better off either adding more content, or finding which pages are getting direct hits and back linking those pages specifically to boost their ratings, and adding comments to them to freshen the index.

Try adding new posts that target similar keywords. The new posts should link to the old posts. Other than correcting errors, I rarely make changes old posts.

Hi,
SEO does not involve off page alone, it also holds the key factors like on page optimization like meta tag, keywords should be appearing in the key places like body, anchor, and images.
