4FreeQuotes is increasing the price of shared health leads from $9 to $15 effective 5/1. The minimum bid for exclusive will be $20.

4FQ has been one of my better sources for a long time. Better than average lead quality but volume was all over the boards. Several months ago I noticed it was almost impossible to get credit. I even got an email explaining that my request for credit was denied because I had asked for too many credits that month and to grant the credit would cause them to lose money on my account.

And that is my problem?

Any unsold leads, the ones that don't meet their minimum quota in shared leads, are put up for sale at Discount Insurance Leads. No indication if the price of these leads will increase.

The email from 4FQ whined about how they have not increased prices in years and they were "way behind" in changing prices.

Again, not my fault.

I checked Discount Insurance Leads for leads that meet my specifications and found 1 lead, 11 days old that had only been sold once.

If they are not selling their leads at $9 why do they think they will sell them at $15?

This new business model will not work IMHO.

So the question begs, are you going to pay them the $15 per lead going forward?

Do these lead companies own our asses or what?

It appears that all the lead sources are going to crap.

No way I would pay the increase. I "filtered" my account dormant some time ago. Don't see any reason to change now.

Ahh yes, the saga continues. I'll have to see if they raised the prices on my P&C leads I get. They went downhill for me when they started offering the exclusive leads a few years ago.

Like you, my account is filtered almost dormant with them. For a long time, they were my best lead source, but they have never had much volume on the P&C side in my area.

Effective 5/1/2009, the following pricing changes will take place:

1 - Shared Boat insurance leads will increase to a flat fee of $10 each; The minimum bid for Exclusive Boat will move to $15.

2 - Shared Individual Health Leads will increase to a flat fee of $15 each which includes the use of any filters we offer; The minimum bid for Exclusive Individual and Family Health will move to $20.

3 - Shared Group Health Leads will increase to a flat fee of $15 each. The minimum bid for Exclusive Group Health will move to $22. Group health leads are so difficult to produce in quantity that the top price that we now pay PER CLICK in advertising - under terms like group health insurance - exceeds the price you pay per lead. And remember, there are no credits from google because the prospect forgot about an ailment, excluded it or decided he didn't like our home page. I'm not being a wise guy, the game has changed quite a bit over the last 12 plus years! It used to be that the best marketing firm was up top, now it comes down to dollars, just like the yellow pages we all remember well. And, just as with the yellow pages, there are no guarantees to the purchaser of any advertising. In short, the game is getting rougher and the above increases will allow us to compete more effectively and drive additional volume.

The above represent the first price increase EVER since 1997 for boat and group health. Individual Health leads have been priced at $9 for many, many years and we're way behind on this increase.

"I checked Discount Insurance Leads for leads that meet my specifications and found 1 lead, 11 days old that had only been sold once."

I have used DiscountInsuranceleads in the past. Although they say the lead was sold one time, based on my past experience, I believe it was sold multiple times.

I'm very surprised at you. If they say it was sold only once, then that's it. The lead vendors are honest and wouldn't mislead you.

I'm sure they're telling the truth. They would only sell it to one source that would sell it to 4 others, the devil is in the details.

Check out AffordableAutoLeads.com. I've been working with AffordableMedicareLeads.com for a while now and they do well on the Medicare end of things, I imagine the P&C end should be pretty good. If anyone tries them please let me know how they worked out.
