Sharing the Word About Specialty

My area of specialty is senior products. An independent agent, I am contracted in multiple states with 11 or so nationally recognized, solidly-rated carriers of Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, and prescription drug plans. I also have senior dental, long term care, final expense, and junior estate builder in my portfolio. The latter are not, obviously, essential in the same sense as the core healthcare products.

What luck have others out there had in how you position what it is that you do, simultaneously remaining compliant with CMS Marketing Guidelines? The inability to use descriptors such as "Medicare" is hindering my ability for those aging in, and seniors, to think of me when considering their options. I'm finding that I'm lost among all agents in my area holding a health and life insurance license.

Look over the Scope of appointment form. Options for those aging-in is what you CAN provide excluding specifics of carrier or type of medicare needs. If you work a list of aging ins' not listed on the DNC- send them a birthday letter/card and keep a short statement of a broker's ability to educate them for intelligient choices & call U for a consult. :GEEK:

How do y'all address something as seemingly direct as your business card? I reference "life" and "health," but what would create instantaneous recognition (billboard advertising, Dirct Mail, newspaper ad, business card, what have you) of my expertise would be if I could simply say that I focus on Medicare.

Oh c'mon now! Are you an insurance agent?

Use your perception- what's the client's dillema? If you want to get catchy with medicare, there is a need for education... someone to know the AVAILABILITY by area and OPTIONS. What would rate credible to you while searching for a solution to anything? Use that...

You raise a good point. In my head, I am not a sales agent. I am more like a State Insurance Health Plan representative who happens to have a licenses in five states to offer life and health. I make my carrier choices not on commissions, but on company stability and on how much protection and potential savings can benefit the beneficiary. It's a helping profession, for me, not just a sales position.
