I know many are not going to write with Shen. Life when they are purchased within 60 days. A couple of things, they have paid their agents every month and have laid off no employees at home office. They may have had emp. leave for other reasons. I have written with them since 1999 and understand that their rehah. was not business oriented but caused by unwise investments. by Mgnt that is no longer there. I for one am going to see how things shake out

Ok good ! I never wrote for them, and I am glad for that !
How in your right mind, O never mind.... Good Luck.

If they do come back, they will change their name.

I don't believe anyone will ever write for them again.

Lighten up....If they are stable and have good products why not write with them? I bet they will pay good commissions.

Is this a post from an agent or a home office dweeb...Why not write them? How about they trashed their reputation among agents and policyholders...It doesn't matter that they are coming out of rehabilitation...Their are plenty of other companies out there that have managed not to get themselves in that position...What do you want an agent to do that recommends this carrier and the client does a quick google search and asks about the fact that they where taken over by the DOI for a period of time.

Great post. I don't buy Shendoah's excuses one bit. Like you stated, many other carriers would be in the same boat.

Obviously there was some kind of environment going on there where they decided to gamble with their client's money.

There is no second chance for companies like that. One of my jobs is to place my client with a financially stable company. That would not include one coming out of receivership. If you did chose to sell them, please offer your clients full disclose and see if that's the carrier they select.
