Should We Get Appointed in All States?

since this is a federal program, shouldn't we as brokers get appointed in as many states as possible?

I think we should wait until we see how the insurance exchanges get set up and what the rules and stipulations are. It would be pointless to be appointed in states until we see what the compensation is per state if it is per state

If you are referring to Obamacare, as it stands now it is not a national insurance program. Even PCIP is state by state.

Selling inside the exchange is not where the money will be.

Since there is no federal license, who controls the exchanges in states that say f-u to to Obama? If it's not with the DOI for that state, do we even need a license?

Or will we just be navigators and make $50 and enrollment and then get stiffed for the money?

It will definitely vary and there will be strict rules I am sure.

California will have an individual & family exchange and a SHOP group exchange on the state level.

@Rick - $58 per enrollment for Navigators. Agents are prohibited in CA from being Navigators.

@Rick and @BOB - CA Agents are paid inside and outside of the exchange (IFP) on commission direct from the carrier. Commission rate has to match in and out as do the plans and premiums so either way comp for agents will be the same.

SHOP exchange in CA will not use Navigators and will pay comp directly to the agent instead of from the carriers (similar to HIPC/PacAdvantage).
