Soon to Be Independent Producer in Michigan

Hello all,

These forums are incredibly helpful and I want to thank the entire community for all the support.

I started my insurance career in 2001 with a captive company and have remained a licensed producer with that same company. I have been an employee of two different agency owners with the same captive company.

I have always had intentions of starting my own insurance agency with this particular captive company until the past few years. I understand the contract and also the competitive environment in Michigan.

I have recognized that independent agency will be the best path for me to pursue at this time.

Hopefully I can obtain some advice and knowledge from those already working in the independent world.

I know independent agency will be very different and I welcome the change. I have big plans to start this journey in the 1st quarter of 2014.

I live and work in the metro Detroit area.

It would be great to connect with some local independent insurance professionals.
