Starter Kit

As a new agent, what are the "must-haves" when getting started?

E & O
Bus. Cards....

What else? Being limited with a disability, I need software to write apps electronically since I use the computer instead of writing. What would be the mosterffective route for me to go? Any other things I should add?

I'll be taking the exam within a week or two. Any florida agents out there with advice on test prep?

Re: Stater Kit

I had a dog bite me just the other day at a clients house.
I wished I had a big stick or they had not been looking.

I know I'm not the only one that has ever been biten by a dog while prospecting or seeing a client.

Mark did they buy? If they didn't its time to sue for damages...I hate appointments where people have large dogs...I had one appt where we sat in the living room and when I got up from the chair the dog jumped me and knocked me over....

Many carriers have electronic applications now… However, the challenge is, that before you know it you will have 100 links to carriers that all work independently of each other. The key is to find a partner that can link multiple carriers for you on one link… Good luck... I work in this space so if you need further assistance please feel free to contact me.

Re: Stater Kit

I was on an appointment down in south Jersey once and I had a goat attack me. We had a few goats when I was a kid, but this one was pretty pissy. It knocked me down and kept hitting me when I tried to get back up. I finally got him by the horn and dragged him out to my car and got my snow scraper out of the car and beat the snot out of that goat. It sounded like someone was getting murdered in their yard. I told them, "Thanks for all the help getting your goat off of me. I will NEVER be coming back here again and I will be telling every life insurance agent within a 100 mile radius about this goat." Then I kicked the goat one last time, got in my car and left.

The moral of the story is, its nice to be nice to the client whenever you can, but when it comes to your own personal safety you fight tooth and nail. If someone's dog bites me I will punch that dog in the head like a jackhammer. I don't let anyone/anything do me physical harm without retribution.

Mark, I don't care if they are looking or not. If their dog bites me, I punish it. Then I get up and let them know that they are free to continue our appointment at MY office where there are no biting dogs and I leave. I don't take that BS.

Can you guys tell that I am having a stressful day?
