So I got a quote for a policy on my polaris rzr. I liked the quote and paid in full for the annual over the phone. 3 weeks later my policy arrives... Only it comes with a bill for a 1000.00 more. I called and the agent says it was reclassified so the policy would be more. I said no thanks, please cancel and refund my money. She said ok. 2 more weeks and I get a check which was prorated at the higher amount I never agreed to and now they are refusing to refund based on the policy I agreed to and paid for. The original quote was 148.00. The adjusted policy asked for another 900. The "refund" was 13.00

I got a policy from geico with a lot more coverage for 325.00 for the year, no problem. So, the original quote was not extraordinary.

This cant be legal...

Ya def illegal get a lawyer & sue. You'll get no less than $100,000 probably more. I'm sorry you went through this

you need to ask them to cancel effective the date it was issued. Depending on where you are look up a Grinnell agent

did they give you a reason as to why it was reclassified?

another question, would this RZR happen to be licensed for road use?

I don't have many carriers that insure atv/utv's, but the ones that do would have all caught this at or before the point of sale once you gave them the vin#.

either way, that tells me snake farm's rating system is from the stone age, or at least screwed up as a soup sandwich.

In defense of scum bag state farm....these off road toy vehicles are not always recognized in carrier's system. I insured one of those Polaris Slingshots (it looks like a bat mobile...) & 2 different carriers weren't recognizing the VIN's. It was only after I called down that they informed me they DON'T insure them. Their system didn't have a drop down selection for POLARIS SLINGSHOT it just had ALL OTHER 2016 MODELS. Had I not have called down & instead just input the CC's assuming it was OK to be rated as a motorcycle....the same thing would have happened.

the only issue I've had come up is with the road use thing I mentioned earlier.

anyone know of any carriers that will insure these type of vehicles that are licensed for road use?

My carriers won't touch them once they get plated, and I have to turn them away.

Sorry to hear. Your problem is definitely an error on the agent that sold you the policy. What state are you in?

My recommendation, file a complaint against the agent that sold you the policy and State Farm with your state's department of insurance.

Umm.. Yea... Ok

In SC, don't appear to have Grinnell here.

Def not street legal, and that was discussed specifically. The policy was for comp/coll only. They reclassified as dune buggy, which makes no sense. Even after I gave the V. I. N they were clear about what it is. They asked "ok is it the S model or the EPS model?"

SC. The agent claims to be at continuing odds with the company, trying to get it straightened out. If it is indeed the agents fault, I'm pretty confident I can "convince" her to just fork over the money and leave me out of dealing with state Farm by mentioning D. O. I. Is that what you suggest?

Foremost & Progressive all day on these toys (safeco too..)

Progressive and Geico are the only 2 here I could find. Progressive was very competitive but Geico edged them out with more coverage.

It sounds like you're dealing with minimum earned premium because of it being a toy and short term. They would probably need to cancel it outright. Where you dealing with the agency owner or a producer?

Calling the doi seems like a complete overreaction; if you talk to the right person at the agency they should be able to fix it, but the person you've been working with might have just done something wrong administratively.
