Obama has no plan and presented no plan in the form of White House sponsored legislation. That is a fact. Nor did he lay out the details of his plan or a plan in his campaign. Only some very, very high level goals.

You are correct though that the plans initiated by the Senate and House leadership or sponsors will be watered down. I mean that is already the case so there is not much room left for that to not be a true statement and there is more to come.

But Obama's bill will not be defeated beause he has no bill. Yet, Obama will get a bill passed because his bill is any bill that passes. Such is his leadership. The same commander who is leading our troops to victory in Afg and in the war for national security on the home front. Scared yet? You should be peeing your pants.

Are you a ghost writer for Joseph Heller?

Maj. Major Major Major: Sergeant, from now on, I don't want anyone to come in and see me while I'm in my office. Is that clear?

First Sgt. Towser: Yes, sir? What do I say to people who want to come in and see you while you're gone?

Maj. Major Major Major: Tell them I'm in and ask them to wait.

First Sgt. Towser: For how long?

Maj. Major Major Major: Until I've left.

First Sgt. Towser: And then what do I do with them?

Maj. Major Major Major: I don't care.

First Sgt. Towser: May I send people in to see you after you've left?

Maj. Major Major Major: Yes.

First Sgt. Towser: You won't be here then, will you?

Maj. Major Major Major: No.

First Sgt. Towser: I see, sir. Will that be all?

Maj. Major Major Major: Also, Sergeant, I don't want you coming in while I'm in my office asking me if there's anything you can do for me. Is that clear?

First Sgt. Towser: Yes, sir. When should I come in your office and ask if there's anything I can do for you?

Maj. Major Major Major: When I'm not there.

First Sgt. Towser: What do I do then?

Maj. Major Major Major: Whatever has to be done.

First Sgt. Towser: Yes, sir.

Unfortunately, the Republicans really have no say in the matter. I wish there was something they could do, but with a super majority, the Democrats don't need any input from the Republicans.

Really? That's what the dems said after the election. Turns out they have not been able to get a bill passed without republicans unless they water it down to the level where every democrat can support it. Thus, single payer, abortion, and public option went out the window. That's quite a bit of say for Republicans who have no say.

Also, come next election, the dems will lose the 60 vote majority that let them get what little they have gotten.
Does it compensate for having elected a commie? No. But it will keep him from going on some of the many joy rides that he would like to go on. He will still go on more than I can stomach but it will be less than it would have been.

The Dem's slim majority is starting to crumble. Unless they can put it to a vote in the next few weeks there are underlying issues.

1/19 is a special election to replace Ted Kennedy. Not saying they won't put another Dem in there but you never know. Latest Rasmussen poll puts Scott Brown (R) within 9 pts of Oakley (D).

Abercrombie (D) is resigning 2/28 to run for governor of HI.

In the House Wexler (D) resigned to go into the private sector. His replacement wont be voted on until 4/19. That means there are 434 in the House now, not the usual 435.

Right now all it takes is a 2 vote swing in the House or 1 in the Senate to throw a cog in the works. If they delay any at all they will be scrambling to find votes.

Two issues remain polarizing. Abortion and how to fund the bill.

You can bet the carriers are not real happy with $200+ billion in new taxes on them that will be passed on to the policyholders.

My point being they don't need a single Republican to get it passed. I agree that the bill is having to be watered down (not to mention the bribes) to garner all 60 votes. But it got through the Senate without one single Republican vote.

As for the 2010 elections, they will definitely lose their super majority, but I'm afraid the damage will be done.

I haven't found it, or checked against Snopes, but supposedly the Senate version has a "no repeal" provision in it. Once it passes it becomes law forever without repeal or modification. If so, I can't believe that is legal.
