Temporary Auto Insurance in Michigan

Hello everyone,
I live in Michigan and I need to move my car to Indiana. I just need to have insurance for this week (time to drive my car there) because after that I will leave the country for 4 months and will not drive my car.
What company could sell me a 1-week auto insurance? I already tried all the major companies (Geico, progressive...) but none of them are doing less than 6-month policies.

Thank you.

So you don't have current auto ins? How long has it been since you've had it and what company was it with?

dude, you got alot to do....first., you will need to get your car registered in the new state, start a normal auto policy (i dont think anyone does less than 6 mont policies), then when you leave town, call and lower your coverage to storage, which is simply comp coverage only, that way, you are still covered for fire, theft, vandlism, etc.

Here in AZ we do this all the time, especially for snowbirds, then you should be able to notify the state DOT and have your registration suspended also, because if its registered, you have to have some kind if liability insurance on it.

I think you're overthinking this. Buy the 6 month policy and cancel it when you no longer use it. No company will issue a 1 week policy, but most will give you at least some type of a pro rated refund. The other point that has been previously mentioned is that you should probably still carry some type of insurance on the car while you're gone anyway, you can probably just drop the collision and liability (which may require you to turn in your plates) and it should cost you almost nothing.

you could call an auto transport company. and have it trucked to where you want it, but you may want insurance on it, just in case it is stolen, or someone, where you store it, decides to drive it.
